I looked at that FiiO player you mentioned, but I ended up going with an Android phone and 128GB MicroSD card instead.

My reasons were thus:
1) iTunes integration w/ ratings. Using an app called iSyncr ($5) I'm able to sync up my playlists and ratings from 7 years of iTunes usage.
2) Bigger screen, more versatile. While my #1 goal was to have a large amount of music available on device, I have other options when I'm on Wi-Fi (which is always when I'm at work). I can listen to Spotify, connect to my Plex server to listen to music I didn't have space for on my microSD, watch Netflix, etc.
3) Slightly cheaper. I was able to pick up a well spec'd phone for under $100 on eBay because it had a "Bad ESN" which basically means someone didn't pay their bill and it won't work as a phone anymore. I personally bought a Sharp Aquos Crystal, but there are several phones that would work fine. Some phones report that they only work with 32/64GB cards, but will work fine with 128GB cards so do a little research.

To me the only downside is the missing hardware buttons, but I've gotten used to it over time. Best part is I sold my still-working iPod Classic for over $200 so I actually made money on the switch.

Good luck in your hunt for an iPod replacement.

- Josh AdamsJosh Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13907913346778280006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6171803.post-38891290819193759312015-01-20T09:16:24.114-05:002015-01-20T09:16:24.114-05:00I agree 100% with you on the iPod, and I WILL go b...I agree 100% with you on the iPod, and I WILL go back and read that article. I've had a 160G Classic for about 5 years and it's starting to show signs of breaking down, which is very depressing for me. I love having my library in my pocket as well as a wide selection of podcasts.

BTW I found this entry because I was originally reading the Blenderhead entry, also very good...Chris Whitenoreply@blogger.com
